In 2019, a report suggested that improving indoor air quality (IAQ) could effectively reduce aerosol transmission of viruses by vaccinating 50-60% of the population.[1] Little did the scientists who wrote this report know how much more critical indoor air quality would become with the onset of COVID-19 in early 2020.
From ensuring there’s an ongoing source of fresh air in your indoor space (i.e., home or office) to socially distancing and minimizing physical contact, there are many routine steps apart from the vaccination we can take to prevent COVID-19.
However, purifying the air in your indoor space is not often mentioned as one of these preventative measures. At Nick’s Air Conditioning, we are pleased to offer the industry’s first LED, in-duct, whole-home and building air purification system: the HALO-LED. Recent tests reveal that this revolutionary machine can reduce the Coronavirus surrogate (MS2 Bacteriophage) by 99%.[2]
Simply put, the HALO®-LED can purify your indoor space’s air, thereby reducing the amount of COVID-19 infected particles present.
Why Has Indoor Air Quality Never Been More Critical?
Most respiratory diseases, such as COVID-19 and the flu virus, are transmitted through three typical methods:
- Contact transmission: Through direct contact
- Airborne transmission: Through tiny droplets suspended in the air
- Droplet transmission: Through close-proximity and large respiratory droplets
The second method, airborne transmission, is one that many people weren’t aware of before the onset of COVID-19. From the wind to activities that include sneezing, coughing, and talking, when these infected particles become airborne and meet humans, they can potentially cause an infection.
In another study, just over half (53%) of flu patients produced aerosol particles of the virus when coughing.[3]. When exhaled from an infected person, viral droplets can travel more than 10 meters by themselves. In addition to other measures, pollutants and other small particles are 2-5 times more concentrated indoors.
While most respiratory diseases are preventable, it’s clear that handwashing and social distancing are not enough, especially with COVID-19. That’s why the CDC (The Centers for Disease Control) recommends[4] improving the quality of your indoor air by using an air purifier.
The REME HALO®-LED in-duct whole home and building air purification system can help. In a recently released third-party study, owners of the HALO®-LED RGF Environmental Group, Inc. indicated their air purifier had proven effective in a 99% reduction of MS2 Bacteriophage, the surrogate of COVID-19.
What is the REME HALO® In-Duct Air Purifier?
The REME HALO® is a system that uses ultraviolet or LED light to purify the air in your home. When installed into the supply plenum of your home’s existing heating air ducts or air conditioning unit, it produces low-level, airborne hydrogen peroxide. The REME HALO® actively sweeps through your home, purifying pollutants at the source, instead of passive air technologies designed for contaminants to pass through the unit for purification or filtration.
This technique eliminates the need for your household air to pass through the HVAC system to be treated. Instead, it infuses every cubic inch of air in your home with its ionized hydrogen peroxide. This causes dust and dirt particles to become larger and heavier, thereby being pulled into and trapped by your HVAC filters much more quickly. The HALO-LED is both mercury-free and certified zero-ozone compliant, which means it’s safe for the environment, your home, and your family.
Why is the REME HALO® Unique?
With their advanced ionized Hydro-Peroxide output, the REME HALO® can kill bacteria and microbes faster than any other air purification system currently on the market. With its adjustable output level, the REME HALO® allows each unit to be customized, in addition to a user-serviceable light cell that only requires replacement every two years.
The REME HALO® in-duct air purifier can rid your indoor space of odors, air pollutants, VOCs, mold, bacteria, in addition to viruses. It is compact, and no modifications are required to your ductwork to install the HALO®. It only requires a tiny circular opening in your HVAC’s return air plenum for proper installation.
